Conference on Transforming ADR: Shaping the Future of Dispute Resolution

We are glad to have been a Supporting Partner for Justice Remedem – Centre for Dispute Resolution’s flagship conference, “Transforming ADR: Shaping the Future of Dispute Resolution 2025,” held on 20.12.2025 at the India International Centre, New Delhi.

The conference brought together leading voices in arbitration, mediation, ODR, and dispute resolution policy. The inaugural ceremony was graced virtually by HMJ Tejas Karia, Judge, Delhi High Court. Across four thought-provoking sessions, experts explored the evolving landscape of ADR from multiple perspectives.

The day began with an engaging Panel on Mediation: “A preferred choice of dispute resolution or a disputed choice?” moderated by Ms. Taruna Ardhendumauli Prasad, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India and chaired by HMJ G.S. Sistani, Former Judge, Delhi High Court featuring insights from Mr. Atul Batra, Professor (Dr.) Rashmi Salpekar, Dean at Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies, VIPS and Ms. Abha Malhotra, Managing Partner at Jurispleaders.

This was followed by a deep-dive into next Panel Discussion on Arbitration in India 2.0, where Mr. NPS Chawla, Joint Managing Partner, Aekom Legal, Senior Advocate Anupam Lal Das, Mr. Avnit Singh Arora [Director, Arbitration & Conciliation, Department of Legal Affairs], Ms. Payal Chawla, Founder at Juscontractus and Mr. Navin Kumar, Founder, IndusLegal discussed commercial disputes, enforcement challenges, and reforms shaping the next chapter of arbitration in India.

The third Panel focused on technology-driven resolution through the ODR Panel, moderated by Mr. Shrey Sinha, Advocate, with valuable contributions from Mr. Amit Thareja, General Manager Legal (Head - Legal Department), Patanjali Foods Pvt. Ltd.,  Ms. Mamta Tiwari, Advocate & Arbitrator, Mr. Vikkas Chandel, Vice President - Legal, Religare Finvest Pvt. Ltd., and Senior Advocate Prasenjit Keswani, addressing the practicality and efficiency of ODR in complex disputes.

The conference concluded with a compelling Oxford-Style Debate on whether a uniform international arbitration law truly fits India’s diverse domestic realities. The debate featured strong arguments for the motion by Senior Advocate Nachiketa Joshi, and Advocate-on-Record Shraddha Deshmukh, and against the motion by Senior Advocate Kunal Tandon and Ms. Rashmeet Kaur, Senior Member, IndusLegal. The three judge bench who gave their verdict comprised of Senior Advocate Amarjit Singh Chandhiok, Ms. Payal Chawla, and Mr. Anil Kumar Chaturvedi, Advocate & Arbitrator and Former Presiding Officer of Debt Recovery Tribunal, Kolkata.

The valedictory address was delivered by Koorosh Ameli and Navin Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, India International Arbitration Centre, whose presence added distinction to the occasion.
